The Wonderbox is a kit designed to initiate conversations between young designers and scientists about the power of biomimicry. The kit’s dimensions are based on the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical proportion found frequently in nature. In addition, the design borrows strategies for discovery from 17th century cabinets of curiosities through multiple scaled doors and drawers. The box includes a book defining biomimetics, a set of cards with dialogue prompts, and biological artifacts such as nests and barnacles. The Wonderbox encourages innovative solutions by targeting questions about basic needs, health, commerce, waste and energy.
