RESPOND DESIGN /// MATERIALS PALETTE
The visual identity for Respond Design, the student-run initiative for sustainability at RISD, utilized found and recycled scraps. The color palette excluded the color green to move toward a new aesthetic associated with sustainability. The logo was designed as a stencil that any community member could customize. This tactic allowed collective authorship of the group’s identity .We also designed a reusable poster for Respond Design announcements out of a pegboard and string. Type could be redesigned because of the module nature of the pegboard and the strong could be reused. Again, this unusual communication tactic helped it stand out from the crowd. In addition a website was created as an interactive, online “hub” as a place for students from all majors to find out about sustainability meetings, initiatives and classes.
